I lost interest in my scale FJ40 build, after having problems with the way I had mounted the body. Last fall I decided to see how close of a fit the Tamiya Bruiser body was on the FJ40 frame. It was a perfect fit
I quickly went to work on mounting the body, bobbing the bed, and opening up the wheel wells a little more. Later I did some more body work on the bed, filling in the missing floor where the sleeper cab once was. I also smoothed out the seam where I had bobbed the bed.
The body armor is pretty straight forward, 3/16" solid steel rod on the front bumper and sliders. The rear bumper is cut from 1/2x3/16" flat stock steel, everything is mig welded.
And its current state
