I've been thinking of getting a set of the newpro comp xtreme all terrain. Has anyone had these tires before or heard anything about them good or bad?

I have a set of 35's on my 80 (that are for sale). They seem pretty decent, my only complaint is that they do have some noise on road.

We use Pro Comp Mud Terrains and truly feel they rule the roost in all types of terrain--rocks, sand, and of course mud. X-terrains aren't that great in mud but are great in rocks.

Some pics of the Pro Comp Mud Terrains in action on the FZJ80:

Very little noise on these at all. I have them on a Jeep wrangler and they're nice.

Pro (crap)Comp tires suck. Weak side walls, loud, wear too fast... That being said I have some I for sale cheap.

yo man ,you need to work on your sales pitch

IMO you are much better off with a different brand. Tried the Xterrains and the MT's. Weak sidewalls, almost impossible to balance, lug noise at slow speed. Don't get suckered into the 4wheelparts "buy 3 and get 1 free" cuz you'll eventually want to rip them off your rims anyway.

what brand do you recommend? I am looking for a good allterrain tire

BFG and Goodyear have both MT's and AT's. Unless it is wheeled hard and often it may be a good idea to run AT's. Look in the fj40 tech section FAQ's their is lots of reviews. I have a nearly new set, because I bought a set of rims from a kid and he gave me the tires rather then spend the $25 to take them off.

If you search you will find lots of threads on tire selection. If you want an all-terrain, you can't go wrong with BFG AT's. Whenever I try a different setup, I usually end up with BFG in the end. A lot of guys dig the Bridgestone Revo's, so you might want to give them a look see. I am interested in the Toyo Open Country AT's and the Nitto Terra Grappler AT's, but I haven't heard much on them. Some guys rave about the new Firestones as well. Basically, there are a lot of good options out there and you will be better off chosing one of these and not the Pro Comps.

alot of people like the procomp tires, ive heard good and bad which is the case with pretty much anything. I am still leaning towards the xtreme all terrians......does anyone have this tire and if so, how do you like it?

I moved from BFG TKO ATs to Nitto Terra Grapplers, I like the Nitto's much better, smoother, quieter and work much better in the desert terrain that I wheel in.
