How bad did tear the door skin? Most don't break off that clean.

Sorry to see rust is coming back. I glad to say my 70 is still original paint and rust free. Currently I'm only getting to visit it for a day every couple of months.:bang: Plus that day I have to split time with the FJ62.:steer: I can only dream of a road trip. So how many of the family went along? How was the weather. Seen it was raining in Washington DC the other rain. Just like not getting to drive my 40 rain is something I only see on TV.:(

It wasn't a clean break... It was already welded before... These are new to me doors 13? Years ago... PO did a poor job... And I did worse LOL

When I grind it down it will look much better

Whole family went... They stayed up there ... I had to work... They came back for the Memorial Day parade and we also place flags at the saratoga national cemetery... They went back early today... I am going to turn the house into a bachelor pad LOL

Rain hasn't been too bad here... On and off the past few days... Memorial day was a great day for marching... Didn't rain and was cool out

Your not missing much fun from not having rain ... The water sheds in our area are at peek levels :)

Had a reoccurring problem that I knew I needed to take 5 minutes and do.... When the wipers come on the drivers one stops and goes ... Time to fix the stripped wiper arm ... Pull off.... Use needle file to make new grooves ... Reinstall

The five minute job I should have done 2 months ago lol

:)

Nice fix Johnny. Is it possible to use a washer between the nut/cap and put more tension on the splines. Haven't had much experience working the later style since it never rains here. Or was that purpose of the post to rub that fact in.

I tried to find a washer to fit ... Just didn't have the right size... If it is an issue again I will probably need to find a good fitting washer... Got tons at work ... Problem is that they are all mixed together for the most part LOL

I guess with the few times you have used the windshield washer on the windshield and actually used the wipers you do not have these problems.... You probably have one wipe of the wipers for every ten thousand wipes I got on mine :) still I bet the rubber doesn't last long in the heat/sun?

made some spacers for the tire carrier mount... the spare is oversized (255/85r16 ... 33")

now i'll need to find the time to put them on :frown:

Ha!!! I found some time.... It was only 3 months :)

Finally the spare is straight!

One more thing off the list.... 875 more to go

my list is not that long - but I suspect I just conveniently forget things

Nice to make the list smaller. Thumbs up
Usually I try to take something off my list and it turns into adding 5 more things to do.

When I add to the list .... it's usually the result of remembering things .... if i didnt make lists I would "just conveniently forget things" ~ Claudia :)

I am on a roll today !

Got the replacement overflow tank for my replacement overflow tank replaced... I had this on the shelf for 4 years lol my other tank would leak because of a crack along the tops when making hard turns

My high elephant horn wasn't working... Wire came off... Re-soldered good as old

My kids strike again ... Rear heater is leaking slightly .... Fixed my spare .... Will need to make a guard for it this time :)

871 more to go

Recycle Renew Reuse

In keeping with saving the environment ... We're all about saving the environment and all... I R+R+R some steel and made a guard to protect my rear heater core... it will not hold an adult.... but.... it will protect from 4 and 5 year olds :)

will need paint and a bit of final tweeking.... may even make a cripple leg that comes down for added compression protection from their tiny legs :)

Nice work on the heater guard! Great idea.

Thanks :)

One of those things I should have done years ago LOL

Got to painting it today... Thought I'd cut to the chase and I put a cripple leg on both sides.

The cripple legs have a pad on the bottom so they rest on the floor... It doesn't look all to big in the picture ... But it covers really well where the feet are.

Not sure that cover would have worked that well on the correct heater with the wider cover. Do look like it a must have with that forward facing back seat. I destroyed a rear heater core years ago loading camping equipment on top of it. Not sure how I would have repaired the heater core since it was smashed in the fin area opposite of the header area. If I ever get around to it I planned to make a cover that was a frame and expanded metal. When I bought the FJ62 the kids only rode around off road and I switch from a early Bronco seat back to jump seats. For camping I just made sure I had something higher on each side to keep weight off the heater.

my other heater core i repaired 'in the past' :) was also crushed in the core area... even split along the core tube ... in two spots

never had the fins totally crushed.... kinda suprised it hasnt happened LOL

your right it wouldnt work with the wider cover... happy i got this one... one of the 1st parts I ever got from @stainless 40/45

I don't have a rear heater but might make a guard like that and put it back there anyway...just because I like it.

I was thinking of mounting my tire changing tool roll on top by using the two extra holes for twist lock common fasteners.... But... Then I remembered I have kids lol
