All,

New to the forum and have located a Cruiser in the Dallas area, and was wondering if I could get a suggestion as to someone who might be able/willing to perform a PPI. Will not be able to lay eyes on the vehicle as I am in Virginia. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. The vehicle and dealer are linked below.

Thanks

2003 Toyota Land Cruiser 4dr 4WD 3rd Row Nav - Inventory | East Dallas Diesel | Auto dealership in Ft. Worth, Texas

Note: Certainly willing/expect to compensate anyone who may be willing to undertake the PPI themselves.

Nice looking truck. What do you want performed in the PPI?

Mainly, I'd like a pair of eyeballs on the truck, to verify no leaks, hidden cosmetic damage, undue wear, make sure all belts, hoses and hardware are in good shape, etc. However, if possible, based on my readings on the forum, I would also like to verify that the truck is rust-free, although it looks to be a TX lifer, but its never a bad idea to double check. It seems to me that a compression check might be advisable as well. I'm also not sure that the timing belt has been replaced as the carfax doesn't indicate one way or the other.

So is it located in East Dallas, Fort Worth, or Plano? Big difference for me (I live one county west of Fort Worth, and the others are way east of Fort Worth).

According to the website linked.
10310 Plano Rd, Suite E, Dallas, TX 7523

As a seller, I'd be hesitant for some stranger to roll up and start pulling spark plugs for a compression check. May be something you have the seller/dealership take to a Toyota dealership for a once over if you want more detailed/invasive info.

Looks like its in East Dallas, a good 40 miles east of Ft. Worth. Point taken re: the invasive nature of a compression check. Perhaps its not entirely necessary; what say you veterans? I get the idea that they would much prefer someone traveling to their location rather than they drop it with a dealer/mechanic. I imagine that a brief test drive and a fairly thorough visual inspection would do the trick. I suppose some swift google work might be in order. Also, in speaking with the dealer, he was unable to confirm whether the timing belt has been replaced. Is there anyway to verify this without too much wrench work? Apologies for the unsophisticated question(s), as my mechanical knowledge is fairly limited.

Some mechanics/dealerships will throw a sticker some where on the core support showing the mileage at which the belt was replaced.

Doesn't look like there is any sticker on your photos. May check the plastic on top of the engine or the firewall.

Looking for something like this

Hi, Looks pretty good from the pictures. Do they provide the car fax? It may be possible for me to look at it and drive it. Mike
