Anyone have a list of differences for them? We don't have FJ cruisers here, we only get to buy Prados (no 4Runners or Tacomas either... only Hiluxes and Fortuners.)

Oh and I do mean 120 series Prados which shares the same platform with FJ.

too many differences to list!
They share the same 4.0V6 petrol engines and suspension components as well as frame (tho modified wheelbase)

Ok, I'll rephrase my question..

Off-road wise, what advantage does FJ cruiser has over 120 series Prado? What will I miss from FJ?

A couple of quick advantages the FJC has over the 5dr Prado 120 (both stock):

- Shorter wheelbase with better breakover
- Shorter front and back overhangs with better approach and departure
- Longer rear shocks (better flex)
- Thinner swaybars (better flex)
- Suspension more tuned for offroad use, better ride and handling offroad
- Profiled gas tank = less gas tank hang up and better breakover in real world
- Option of having rear locker and ATRAC working together = better offroad traction
- Washable interior (seats and rubber floor)
- In gear start for manual models (not sure if Prado has this feature)

A couple of advantages of the PRado 5dr over the FJC:
- Much bigger interior can seat 5 adults comfy and lots of cargo, or 5 adults and up to 3 kids and a little cargo
- 4 reald doors for access
- Better visibility on and off road
- Better on road handling and ride
- Larger gas tank (better range) if fitted with dual tanks and diesel much better range

Just a couple I can think of the top of my head, and the major ones.

If your thing is longer expedition travel the Prado will be a better choice due to the option of dual tanks, diesel and much bigger body/cargo. You can easily fit a locker or 2 to compensate for the traction and an aftermarket suspension and a couple of tweaks will give you the same traction as the FJC (also when fitted with same options). This will largely solve breakover and angles as well for the Prado.

I wish we had the Prado available in the US, with some US options to it like KDSS, V8, etc. I like the bigger body and visbility without paying the Lexus GX price for it here and being stuck with variable shocks and rear airbags.

FYI Prado sells for US$100,000 upwards here, so it's not like you got a bad deal buying Lexus GX.

127.0.0.1,

Are you the local loopback or something?

I have put several small aftermarket Prado parts on my FJ including a Parana Dual Battery tray (best fitting to date), light switches, and pre-cleaner. I am also working on a fit and re flash for the DAC to work from the Paado to FJC. I have sent many parts to Prado pointers including Upper control A-Arms, and lower links and skids. I'm sending down a TRD supercharger to someone to attempt to fit it onto a Prado. We are sending both the FJC and Taco fit kits and will post on the Prado section when we get it to work.

There is also a comparison thread on Pardopoint for members that fit FJC parts to the Prado, but it is mostly dead until someone else gets parts sent.

Maybe it's easier to list what they SHARE...LIKE CRACKS IN THE ENGINE BAY!!

Sorry-still mad at this one-I've been trying to see the factory rep for 4 months to have them look at it....

Not sure what the root-cause is in the FJ, but on the Prado it has mostly been isolated to fitting firmer body mount bushings to the fender with aftermarket bumpers. My understanidng is that the Prados don't have the issue if they keep the softer OEM body mounts, which allows for more flex of the fender on the frame. The reason why they used the firmer bushings was because some folks complained about seeing the bumper move in relation to the hood and fencer offroad.

Never had that issue on my 4th Gen 4Runner (same platofrom) or even heard about it ona 4Runner, nor a GX but the GX's tend to stay on pavement for the most part anyway.

I think the Praod problem has been identified and resolved, not sure if that is the issue with FJCs yet.

:dead-horse-fast2: :smiley_beatin_horse: Then sell what you have and move on with your life. This has been an ongoing saga with you for pretty close to the last year. Give it up. Buy a Prius or something that'll make you happier.

Never give up!

I'm not losing sleep over it brutha!! I still LOVE the FJ. If I didn't, I would sell it and forget it. I have a feeling if you decked out a new TRD and had these bulges (now small cracks) you'd want it rectified too.

I just don't want to let the issue quietly "go away" as I'm sure some at Toyota would like it to.

PS: I never "give up" do you? You don't work for Toyota bean counting division do you?!

please post in the appropriate thread or stay on topic. It is a disservice to those that will look for information in the future.

NYCTRD, since we have discussed this several times, any further on this will be deleted. I'm not censoring you, I am asking you to post in the appropriate thread.
