While I like the looks of powdercoating, one thing I've never liked is how easy it is to chip. Have you ever considered Cerekoting? There's more options with oven cured Cerokote, but there's plenty of choices with air cured Cerokote. It's more durable than powdercoating, but I guess it boils down to personal preference.

I have never looked outside of firearms for cerakoting. Who here would even do that?

There's a place in Moncks Corner called Liquid Mirage. I don't know anything about them other than they do Cerakote, presumably just firearms, but you can always ask. I've been shopping around for airguns because after pricing what others charge for Cerakoting, I'm going to do it myself. From what I understand, if you have even the most basic painting and/or airbrushing skills, it's easy. The oven cured Cerakote is more durable than the air dried Cerakote, but both would be far more durable than powdercoating.

Keep in mind, Cerakote is no different than any other 2K or 3K harden paint systems. 1K paint dries, 2K paint cures, thereby giving it the harden feature through molecular bonding that makes it superior over 1K paint. There are a lot of different 2K products and my head starts to spin when comparing the minor differences. Given this, consider talking with a paint shop that does 2K or 3K paint. I would do this over going to a Cerakote dealer that probably only does guns. Some shops might do both 2K paint and powdercoating, so they can give you more of an honest comparison between the two.
