Thought I would post some experiences... this laptop is used for only a handful of things, really:

Remoting into my work computer (via IE, only option)
Searching/using Amazon
Viewing car forums (hachiroku.net which has zero ads on IE, toyotanation - via Chrome due to IE issues, this forum which can be via IE or Chrome)
Checking hotmail, sometimes doing online research if needed
Using/viewing photos in PSE 13

This laptop is a quadcore running Win7 and I believe 4 gigs of ram?

I know this is a free site - and with sites especially like this, things aren't free. Maybe with a membership some of the ads get curbed, however...

It's very common for this site to crash, if not run extremely slow.... if it doesn't crash, it's common when I refresh that it holds up any and all other IE actions for several minutes. The ads pull in video - and a lot of the time those ads don't have the typical muting options (which is always fun). This site actually caused this laptop to bluescreen of death about 10 minutes ago (nothing else was being done actively - and just a few seconds after refresh on this site in IE - IE froze and then the bluescreen popped up, stating a memory dump was in process).

I'll use this site in Chrome more - but I was trying to bring about possible issues/concerns.

I haven't used IE much over the past few years, but do test on it every month or so...and have never noted an issue.

Are you sure your browser and associated plugins are up to date? My IE laptop seems to update every time I turn it on...

Video ads are ALWAYS supposed to be muted, but I know some do sneak through...unfortunately, unless I catch them personally (or unless you have mad skills with Firebug and searching out specific ad codes), they are hard to chase down.
