i would love to resurrect my 40 soon, with me putting moeny in to electronic ig i dont have much for a starter.so i was wondering if any one has any contacts behind the toyota parts desk. a discount would be pretty nice to get. Also, if any one has a lonely starter that seems to be collecting dust i can take it off your hands, we can work somehting out.

Im not looking for hand outs, just looking for a hand as school costs, and having no job anit to great.

I've got one on my spare 3FE you could use, you'd just be responsible to track down another decent used one to replace it in the next month or so. That said, what's wrong with yours? If it's just contacts, they can be replaced (I assume anyway, I helped a buddy change his out on his 22RE)

i dont know whats wrong with it, sometime it wants to turn some time not. and when it turns i could turn it faster.

I'll see about pulling it the next time I'm out in the garage, you can try swapping it in then take a look at yours or whatever. You've pulled and cleaned all the cable connections?

i havent pulled any thing any connetions. i should have added that is sounds really bad.

i might have something kicken around...but im in bc now...

That 76 uses a particular starter that has an exciter wire for the coil.

I have 2 of them somewhere in my pile of junk. IF I can find them tomorrow, I will send you one. I have not seen them in a while, but I think they exist. If I find them, I'll let you know.

Damn Drew, odd to see you in here, and nice to see you helping out  So a 3FE starter won't help the situation?

i havent read any thing about the 3fe starter going in a 2f, but i think it would be pretty much the same starter as a 87 which i looked in to buying. i would just starting the 40 with like 7-9 volts instead of 12v, or so i believe.

I don't know how it caught my eye but it did. Not sure I can help, I have a big pile of junk parts from 5 Land Cruisers.

oh man sacramento, kinda far from edmonton. hey if shipping isnt that bad, u could help me out. i wish i had room for my cruisers. i wouldnt have this problem

i have one from a 75 and another from a 77. at least loaners if you are stuck.

I looked everywhere for the two I have and could not lay my hands on them. I am willing to send you a working gear reduction starter if that will help. Don't know how to send it across the border, though.

I didn't get mine pulled yesterday, but if you want to check it out, just say the word and I will.

thanks to all for help, drew i think we can work something out for the gear reduction. i dont think it should be a problem sending it over. im going to try and clean it or at least open it and see the damage. its parked out side the house so its not an emergency. Going to be picking of pertronix tomorrow, and think this is time for me to spend a bit of cash on her.

i cleaned it up inside had to resolder every part that once had solder on it, and cleaned alot of rust out of the starter now it works great. very pleasing not having to spend money, just a bit of time.

I have a 76 for parts if you ever need anything. I am in Stony Plain.

Bambino you dont have a carb on the 76 still? or the front doors?

Sorry

I just got home from Valemount. I do have the carb. no doors.
