that is a great looking dog, and i love the name, and the story behind the name even more.

that is the DUKE in the background, but i always preferred Eastwood in the spaghetti westerns...Good, The Bad and The Ugly has to be my favorite.

That is the Duke, Josh got it for my Dad in 1999 his last Christmas with us, he also got that same year a new Dodge PU, I think he enjoyed the Duke more :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

He brought it to the showroom here where it has remained, ever so often we will put him in one of the doors, and the local cops come by the next day laughing about pulling
u- turns to investigate

Eric, Smootus went missing last Sat. and Josh was just frantic, spent all day Sunday and Monday looking for him, it is the cool thing in DFW for the drug dealers to have a big mean looking Pit on a log chain, and word is that some of the local crack heads are stealing them and swapping them for drugs........Josh and several of his buds put the word out, that if and when they found out that Smootus was stolen, there would be hell to pay.....and I know not many of you guys know Josh, but there ain't many men that will fawk with him......anyway, Smootus shows up at Josh's house Wed. morning and Josh could see tire tracks in the dirt where a car had pulled up and backed out.... Here at the shop we keep his water bowl in the mens restroom, and he will not go in there now, you can drag him in, and he bolts out.
But we have him back now.....

deg gum, butch -- what a heartache! glad he's okay now -- how did he initially go missing?

Josh lives at our family farm, way out in the sticks, his closest neighbor is about a half mile, also a very close friend and Smootus hangs out there also. Josh left his house around 6 pm, and Smootus was at the neighbors, when he returned around midnite he was not.
Smootus is very friendly, and loves people and riding in the back of a truck, so from now on we keep closer tabs on him.......I suppose this a very different world than you are used to hearing of, but most farm dogs are allowed to run loose.......

Josh is considering either chipping him or tatooing any thoughts?
I know not many Vets or the local pound can scan for chips.

BTW my wife is a director at the local VA nursing home, about once a month she will clean and perfume Smootus up and take him to work, the residents there just love him. Some of the residents that never respond to much come alive petting and loving on him. The first time, her boss was scared to death of him shen she came walking down the hall with him...... :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Now when she takes him, she will make a round in the morning, he will spend the day laying in her office, then she makes another round in the afternoon...

i would suggest tattoing him if not many shelters scan -- why not do both? check out my site www.spbr.org -- I can get you a chip for $10 --

-- what a great pup -- and a great story -- :D

I got another one for ya' last year at ICBM, LSLC's big club run, Josh rolls up with Smootus in the back, this is a real family event, guys that never bring the wife and kids, do to this, anyway lots of pets and children....moms were scooping kids up, warning them about the mean dog and such, so Josh wisely kept Smootus on the leash...for a while anyway :flipoff2: by the end of the event every parent there was wanting to take him home, cause he was by far the most docile and best behaved pet there, once I saw him lying and had a kid on his neck pulling his ears, one on his back and one pulling his tail, and Smootus was just smiling, and loving it.......course another time he disembowled an armadillo, but that's another story :flipoff2:
