I always feel guilty posting questions, but, I have searched far and wide, so, here's my situation:
I will be replacing the head unit on my fj62 soon. I want navigation capabilities as well. After looking at options that combine nav and audio, I have decided I really like the Pioneer AVIC Z2. Here is a link with info on the unit: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069681_423070352,00.html
Also, I want longitude/latitude gps when off road. I currently own an HP PDA with a really nice screen. I have searched this site and google, and it appears that I would ideally get a small bluetooth unit to recieve the GPS, and this would interface with the PDA.
I think I have two basic questions:
1. Is there any way I could use the Pioneer head unit for the type of off road GPS that I can achieve with the PDA? Meaning, can it do it using a dvd or CD, or, can I use the abovementioned pda setup and keep the PDA constantly active to patch forward to the Pioneer screen via bluetooth or some other craziness? Is there something I'm not understanding and the pioneer already does this for me?
2. Software. Is the software that I can run on the PDA going to be inferior? I would like to pick up whatever is generally considered the best...a lot of people on this board seem to mention the Nat. Geo. stuff. Do I need to look into a laptop or similar in order to run the top notch software?
Sorry for the long post, but I'm kind of hitting the wall here. Thanks
p.s. wont that pioneer just look soo pimp in the cruiser dash!
