Getting ready to put the tranny back in and had to sand the output shaft to get the pilot bearing to fit, question is how do I install the bearing itself? Just tap it into the end of the crank? :hhmm:

Use a tiny little bit of grease around the outer rim of the hole, then drive it in with a socket or driver tool that only touches the outer portion. Don't hammer the inside, or the rubber seal portion. If it starts crooked, knock it back it back out and start over. Usually tapping the high side will make it fall out of the hole.

If you don't have a socket or bearing/seal driver that will work, you can use a flat punch or driver. I have the best luck striking bearings, races and seals in a triangle pattern. A square pattern works too, but it's easy to get one crooked striking in a clover pattern vs. a triangle pattern. At least for me anyway.

Even though it's a roller bearing, it won't hurt to put a tiny bit of grease on the input shaft where it slides in the bearing. Things move around a lot more than you would imagine down in there, even though the bell housings are pretty stout in your application compared to the power your engine puts out.

Got the bearing, clutch, throw-out bearing and pressure plate all back in...now to figure how to get the tranny in???
