The install of my Phoenix 240A alternator hit a snag today. The connector coming out of the alternator has the wrong orientation leading to a bad choice on the install....install it anyway and risk damaging the wiring due to a mandatory 90 degree bend or wait for a corrected alternator while your truck is on a lift. I opted to get a corrected alternator. See photos for a better explanation.

Bummer. I mentioned this is my install post and emailed their tech to notify them of this issue about a month ago.

Absolutely frustrating!

Knowing I let them know about the issue and they're not checking the items they're sending out is unacceptable.

The product has performed well for me, but more attentive service is absolutely necessary. I had to clearance my power steering bracket to get mine to fit. I shouldn't have had to do that. I would have sent it back if I didn't need the car to get to work.

This is only after I had to send the first alternator they sent me back because it produced less voltage than my factory alternator did. That was it's own source of frustration!

When I explained my issue to the tech, he already knew about it. To make matters worse, I had to pull their alternator, put my stock back in, ship theirs, then wait for a replacement. Then pull my stock one again and install one with an incorrectly oriented plug.

Trust me - I understand your frustration.

It appears to be a solid product but there's more to doing business than that.

After some not so fun back and forth, Phoenix fixed my issue and overnighted a properly built alternator. From this point forward all of their GX470 alternators are supposed to be built with the pig tail connector coming off the rear of the alternator to avoid the clearance issues.
