Anyone in Prince William County get a ridiculously high assessed value for their Land Cruiser? They put my 1980 FJ40 at $13,175 and assured me it's the NADA trade-in value. I'm going to dispute it, but would welcome any feedback from others in Prince William County.

My Cruisers are assessed in the $400 - 500 range in Fauquier after the 100K mile reduction.

When you registered it what did you put for your purchase price?
I pay no personal property tax on the 40 but have to pay on the M-416 trailer. I believe it's how I have the 40 registered

When I registered it here, the purchase price was already on the Colorado bill of sale.

Just spoke with the PWC tax office. They couldn't find the FJ40 in the NADA guide, thinking it was some kind of older Land Rover, and used 85% of the purchase price. I showed him where it was in the Classic section of the NADA guide, and we compromised on "Average Retail" for its assessed value. Antique plates would avoid any personal property tax, but I don't want those sorts of restrictions on how I drive it.

If you are a resident of another state and in the military, you can be exempt from that tax.. Or you could register it in your home state.

Our 2010 Assesment for the 1997 is 7k; tax - 290; tax relief is 140 - for Fairfax City
