Passenger front seat not reclining (2 Viewers)

Hey gang,

87 BJ74 JDM. Went to see how it pulled with 4 full grown adults in it last night, and once my two pals were in the back seat, the passenger side front seat (RHD), so the left side, will not recline back. It slid back into position on the sliders to provide the leg room, but my pal had to sit in a seat where the seat back was tilted about 15 degrees forwards.

We tried lifting the seat and using both seat levers on the left and right side, but to no avail.

Anyone know any tricks?

I had a similar situation in my 89 BJ74. If the seat was not all the way back on the slider it would recline but if all the way back it would not recline. Turned out it was a bent tab on the seat bracket located closest to the center console.

Had the same deal happen 2x. Monkey'd around with a small flat head screwdriver, adjusted a piece on the console side mechanism and the seat functioned properly again.
