Anybody want to 'splain how a panhard bar works to this noob?
I did a search but found a lot of references to the word.

A panhard bar is used to center and keep the axle located under the vehicle. this type of bar is used in 4 link applications also seen under radius arm vehicles.

this pic is a pretty well designed front 3-link suspension with the panhard....equal lower arms, single PS upper arm, and a link running from the PS axle to the DS frame, parallel to the existing drag link.

for GOOD street handling, a panhard is a near-must...tho double-triangulating the links may get it good enuf, it's hard to get zero bump steer with a standard steering system and a front suspension that doesn't have a panhard. (see Bruce's rear suspension for what a double-tri looks like)

Panhards are stock-installs on the front axles of early broncos, YJ's (oddly), TJ's, ZJ's, and 80-series Cruisers

Thanks Woody the pic+words made it easier to understand. I've had at least one other explanation but there was no graphical reference so I didn't get it.

You may have heard the panhard referred to as a "track bar." That's the term the Jeep crowd uses anyway.

Only the roundy-round guys.. All the road course guys I grew up with call it a panhard.

The guy who built the roundy-round I crewed on last year is from PA, but has lived here in NC a while, so to him, it's a "pannerd"

Woody, that is a real nice 3-link.. whose is it?
