Hello to all. I'm new to this forum & got redirected over here from the UC forum

The purpose for this post is to see if anyone can provide some insight to trusted shops that do quality paint & body work in the Charleston area? I own a 72' FJ40 that I've had for the last 19yrs. Until 3 yrs ago the truck spent its entire life in the northern climate & is in need or it's 3rd round (& hopefully last for quite some time) of body work & paint. I need some rust repair & likely will need to replace one of the panels where the kick vent is, but the rest of the rust appears to be pretty minor & should be repairable. I'm not looking for frame off resto work just someone who knows what they are doing (and willing to do more than insurance collision repair) & can give me a solid daily driver that will last.

I've taken the truck to Glen at Lextech a couple of times & his only recommondation was a place called Louie & Son's in James Island but said he's not sure they will want to get into something like this. I also found a couple of places online that look like they may do restoration/classic car work: -Limehouse paint/Stono body works in James Island, -Action Al's autobody in N. Charleston, -maybe some shop in Summerville on Old Trolly Rd behind LA Motorsports (just a forum link but no name or website that I could find). I searched the forum for past threads on this topic & didnt find anything specific to the Charleston area but I apologize if I missed something.

If anyone out there can pass along some ideas or comment on any of the shops I've listed above I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help

Welcome to the forum and club. Call Greg Monhollen @ 843-469-4307. He is located in West Ashley near the Johns Island area. He does the work out of his garage(nothing pretty to look at there), but he does great work and has done some restorations. He was going to do some work on my FJ40, but sold it instead.

BBQ & Sherman, thanks so much for the help I'm going to give Greg a call. Can I get your names so I can give Greg some context as to how I was referred to him? Again I really appreciate the direction

just tell him Bessinger....leave first name off in case he does not like Michael any more then just switch it to Tommy...as you have twice as much chance between father and other son....of finding one he likes. :)
