Most paid supporting Subscriptions to 'MUD are done on a yearly basis.
Normal Paid Subscriptions: One year life span...once your subscription time period is close to expiration, you will receive an email notifying you that it's about to expire. You can then manually renew at your leisure - there is no loss of attachments or PM's, but you may receive warnings that you've exceeded your limits until you re-up your star status. Re-upping a star can occur at any time....the re-subscription will simply add another year to the expiration date...you could potentially go out for many years
There are also buy 5 get one free options.
Recurring Paid Subscriptions: These Paid Subs work similar to the normal ones...however, the email you receive is nothing more than a warning that you will have another years fee removed from your PayPal account. If you are the type who expects to be an addicted user on the forum for many years to come, and don't want to deal with re-upping each year, then the Recurring option may work great for you.
At some future time, you may wish to terminate the recurring subscription...this is done thru PayPal, not on the 'MUD site...instructions are as follows:

- Search keyword "subscription" and the first link provides directions.
