Anyone know the part number (napa or who ever) for the axle shaft seal on the front of a 1977 FJ 40. The one inside of the tube?

The only thing I can find is for an 81-85 mini truck, and 81-85 LC. Part # is the same for both, and I think it's the same for all years of the 40's and 60's. # is 12810 (NAPA). ID is 1.299, OD is 1.738. It's listed as an axle shaft seal.

If you need any parts #'s or cross references, or anything, I manage the NAPA in Nashville. Just post up or shoot me a PM.

Thanks I got part number NOS-13858. Is this right or wrong?

Hmm, that comes back to a Diff seal for mini truck. ID is 1.378" and OD is 2.493". I'll do some double checking on this.

Okay, Toyota part # is 90311-33085. I crossed that over to my # and came up with the 12810 part #. Double check your ID and OD, just to make sure.

Any idea what the recommended gear oil is for diffs, tranny and T-case on a FJ40 is?

75w90 or 80w90 is the typical weight for diffs, tcases, and transmissions.

Redline MT-90 is a great oil for the transmission and tcase. It might work in the diffs too.
