Padre Island December 24th - 29th

Hey!
We, @mesa man and my family, are planning an adventure from Northern New Mexico down to Padre Island (PINS) December 24th - 29th for some rural camping and beach driving. We have two rigs going at this point, my 1999 100 and our friend's Tacoma. Looking to see if anyone is up for the adventure as it is safer and more fun in a group. We are watching the weather and can adjust dates as needed but my birthday is 12/28 and I would LOVE to be there for my bday camp set and all fun to be had. Our plans are flexible after the 29th and if weather is permitting and we are having a good time we may stay longer. We then plan to adventure around as we head home, not sure where we are going, just have to be back to work on the 7th. Suggestions while down there?
We are looking to see if any locals know the fishing scene down there.
We are also looking for any locals who know the area and are willing to show us around as we have never been down there. We are a family of 4, with two teenage boyz 14yo & 15yo. I have done a lot of research and trust we can do this alone but thought I would open this up to the local Mudders.
We will be visiting Jimmy's Barn

, @CenTXFJ60, on the 23rd then heading down from there.

We are not in Padre, but if you make it up the coast a ways, we will be in Matagorda (a/k/a Gorda) through 01/04. Great fishing and camping. Have fun on your trek it sounds wonderful and Happy B.day too.

We have a place on the Colorado River in Gorda. That is where our 40 resides. Gorda is much more laid back and less populated than Padre. It is really much more of a fishing town (and we hope it stays that way!!!) In the winter, you can drive on the beach for miles and hardly see a soul. Plenty of places to park and fish from the shore.

We are heading to Padre (PINS) cause we were told we could camp rurally and not see a soul and drive for miles on the beach…this sounds the same. I’ll check out it out. We are not big fishers but if we can try then why not? Although a fishing license are not cheap for out of staters and we have never fished the ocean just lakes and rivers. So excited, I was chatting with a couple from San Antonio and he kept saying how cold it would be down there right now… lol, it was 16 here this am and is now 33 so 60s and 70s will be soooo welcomed! Lol
