Ive got a 2002 4Runner 4x4 with 160k miles on it. 3" lift with 33" tires. Recently I had a check engine light with the code P0770 ( shift solenoid E malfunction.) Took it to a transmission shop, and they stated they would test and replace what was necessary. Several months and trips back to the shop, the P0770 code is still coming back. This is also disabling the VSC system. The entire transmission/valve body has been rebuilt. The 4Runner drives fine, no transmission issues at all. Has anyone else run into this problem?

There's a TSB for that code that was for an ECM reprogram and valve body replacement back in 02. Yours is obviously way out of warranty but that may help with the diagnosis. Should be able to look it up online.
