Well as the title says, I’m getting a Intermittent check engine light on my 2013 with 140k. Cleared it with my SacnGauge but it returned a few days later. Since then it’s gone back off but it only gets driven about 10 miles a day.

Quick google search says “Output Speed Sensor No Circuit” but nothing on mud that I’ve found. It’s hard to believe I’m the first but hey, lucky me I guess lol.

I do most of my own mechanic work but this is our “new” vehicle and I’m tempted to have Toyota take a look while it’s in getting a seatbelt tensioner recall done this weekend. I have an extended warranty but I don’t see any mention of sensors although the transmission section covers quite a bit.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

I'm guessing a bad speed sensor, but here's the full diagnostic process for that code:

Thank you, this is very helpful. I do have a scope and could check this if the dealer cannot find a problem. I assume they will follow this same procedure though.

To throw more wood on the fire the airbag light has now come and gone, don’t know if it’s related. If I didn’t have a warranty, and it wasn’t already going in for the seatbelt recall I would not have them do any diagnostic work.

On another note, I asked them to do a 5 tire rotation as I have a matching spare. Their response was “we never do 5 tire rotations as the spare develops issues being unused for so long. I told them that’s why I wanted it done! But to no avail...

I will report back, thanks again!

That's a great dealer response! Lmao

Dealer said the speed sensor resistance was high and needs to be replaced. I asked if they checked the waveform on a scope and he just repeated that they checked the resistance...$400 for parts and labor, I’ll have it back Tuesday.
