had the CEL pop today along with both VSC lights. Got home to read code and truck threw a P0156.

See that this is O2 sensors - should I replace both? Also, should I replace downstream and upstream while I am in there? I think 0156 is downstream but can someone please confirm?

Thank you.

Rob

Also, where would you recommend buying sensor? Through Toyota? Denso?

Thanks

Check this link:
coil pack replacement without knowing which

P0156 is O2 sensor, bank #2, sensor#2. So, should be passenger side, back sensor. Denso is the factory sensor. You can get them at most parts stores or your Toyota parts counter.

As for replacing them all, that is up to you. I am fairly frugal and replace parts on an as needed basis.

Awesome, thanks Dwight.

Helpful to have full list of codes too. Hopefully won't need them anytime soon

Trying to find the Denso part numbers online and am getting conflicting info. Upstream and downstream part numbers seem reversed and oxygen sensor vs air/fuel sensor seem to be used interchangeably. Anyone know off hand what Denso part number would be for bank 2, sensor 2? Thanks

The downstream sensor has the flange that mounts the sensor to the exhaust pipe. Advance Auto has a part number of 234-4154.

Thanks Dwight. That is what is so frustrating to me - Denso website makes no mention of this sensor. Instead recommends 234-4260, which has no flange. You'd think they would have it together!

I may have given you bad information. I finally found out that you have an 06 LX470. Pulling part numbers from advance auto parts give 234-4209 for downstream and 234-9051 for upstream.

Thanks Dwight. Between this and my fuse questions a few weeks ago - I owe you big time! Thanks again

Replaced this O2 sensor in early Jan with new Denso sensor. Code was gone until today. Another P0156 popped today. Could it be that I got a bad sensor or does anyone else have experience with this code being something else? Thanks

Rob

RobRed has done a great job assembling articles on the LC/LX. Here is one on the O2 sensors. If you threw another downstream sensor code, I would do the upstream sensor on that side before doing anything else. The upstreams are usually the first to go and if there is a problem with one of the them, it might cause a fault with the associated downstream sensor.

Oxygen Sensor (O2) Part Numbers and Replacement

Cool, thank you for the post. Will try the upstream as well. Should I just look at bank 2? Or do 1 as well?

Rob

When I did mine, I replaced both bank 1 and 2 proactively, even though only 1 had failed. I wanted to do it all in the relatively comfort of my garage and not out on a trip, loaded and with family. I figured if one had failed, it was not worth waiting for the others!
