I have owned my 2007 GX since (2019)140k now at 218k. Its my daily driver and does weekend warrior stuff (mild wheeling, pulling a boat). Out of nowhere I had some overheating issues(3/4) needle which was definitely fan clutch because it was only when stopping. New fan clutch went in but it then had mild overheating at speed so I went ahead and got a new radiator, cap, thermostat. It seemed to slightly improve but still was an issue. Now I have odb II and normal temp is 200 but it climbs up to 230. Toyota dealership checked for leaks but everything checked out....

Now for the weird part:

Temps climb at 2000 rpm area regardless of gear. At first I would just ease up the throttle but then I found If I bump down a gear and get into 3000 rpm ish the temps drop back to 200 . For example towing a boat in 4th gear on flat highway temps rise up close to 230 maybe more if I let it but I go slower(not ideal)or I shift down to 3rd gear and temps drop.

Anyone know what this could be. Did I damage my engine somehow(because it never was like this before) or do I have a stuck thermostat... or somthing else?

You seem to have repaired the most common issues.

Double check this list…
