Hello all , I’m new to the forum and hoping their are some fellow New Englanders here or perhaps some travelers from afar who could share their experience on any given cape beach . it will be the family and couple of friends. Are their parking restrictions due to wildlife? are you stacked in like a Wallyworld parking lot ? . I’ve done a little reading but nothing regarding the atmosphere of it ,so any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated .

This feels more like a social post, not a technical one.

Most of the beaches on the outer cape, Orleans to P-Town get packed very quickly especially on the weekends. Coast Guard, Nausset, Nausset Light beaches are all on the National Seashore and require either a daily or yearly pass. All have parking lots, some of them with limited spaces. The further out you go the fewer peeps. Race Point does permit vehicles on the sand but you have to buy a pass/permit. Other beaches are operated by the town/village - Craigville is one of our favorites w/ warmer water and a great beach. Cahoon Hollow in Wellfleet is extremely popular and has a killer bar - The Beachcomber (see my sig).

Change over days are typically Saturday/Sunday so be prepared for slow going on Rte 6 on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

Lots to do - dinner reservations are a must unless you don't mind waiting in hour lines or are eating in.

Have fun and enjoy the beach

Hello there! I have not tried any of the Cape's beaches yet. I do plan to try some this summer, though.

Personally I've driven my truck mostly around the beaches in Nantucket. The drive to Great Point is nice, and there are a lot of seals up there. We did it last month, (off-season) and only had one other vehicle out there, and they stopped quite a ways before the lighthouse. We had the lighthouse and seals to ourselves. I would assume there are less people during the summer months as well, compared to the Cape. No parking lots, you just park on the beach when you want to stop. There's lots of beach.

You need a permit to drive on Nantucket Beaches. Great point has a separate permit, you would also need. They sell daily ones at the gatehouse on the way up, or you can get one for the whole season.

Thanks for the replies all , I’m pretty familiar w the walk on beaches and not so much on the ORV OSV side of it , looks like a little slice of paradise toolin along the designated pathways with dunes and ocean either side , picking a spot for the day ,setting up and enjoying a peaceful day at the beach . Theirs great fishing there and always the chance of a great white siting ! I suppose my question is it family oriented or more of a party scene ?
thanks again . And thanks to mod for putting this in the proper feed

The national seashores in my experience were always family friendly.
