Going down to the Atlantic City/Emerald Isle are for a week or so with the wife and kid, any suggestions. I know a few of you guys are regulars to the OBX so any tips are welcome.
I will taking the ferry over at least one day and driving up to see the lighthouses and the birthplace of flying. Food? Kayaking Rentals? Fishing? Come on let me hear it. Thanks guys.

just got back sunday; looks like youll be at the other end as we were up in corolla. I rented a tandem kayak for the week from summer vacation rentals and they even delivered it to the house. think it was 60 for the week. Mama Kwans is good for a casual and inexpensive stop for food up in Kitty Hawk. also heard good things about the black pelican and hurricane mo's but didnt actually eat there as we stocked, or rather over stocked the house from day 1. if you are all the way up to the wright brothers monument its less than 30 minutes up to the northern beach access at the terminus of NC 12, worth a shot to drive up to the VA state line and probably see some of the wild horses. Plus you can stop by Corolla outback adventures and drool over the various 40s they use for the guided tours. cruiserhead 05 is working there for the summer. also ran into bfk40 and another mudder out on the beach. Pea Island nature preserve is a nice and easy walk through some marshlands w/ lots o wildlife. the southern banks is much more desolate on the beach and will make the north end seem like a sand highway. Dont go to the sunset grill in Duck for dinner at least, no one enjoyed it in our group other than the nice sunset over the sound. i imagine cruiser4life and trollhole will chime in w/ a bit more info soon.

ENJOY

I take it you plan to spend at least a night on OBX?

That would be a really long day trip.
