Everything went fine out at AW. Out doing a test-and-tune on the 40. Rig ran WAY better then last year and had a lot more power now that the Rochester carb was cleaned, re-built and tuned. I pretty much idled up the 'Big Daddy' with a slight blip of the throttle in a couple of spots whereas I would have to rev and ride the clutch the whole way to keep from stalling. I do still have an issue with my throttle cable and carb linkage though. Some times my idle will be way high and I would have to pull up on the pedal to lower it and the next I would barely be running and would have to re tighten my idle screw. Nothing big though.
I came accross an F150 stuck in 6X6 bog. The guy left his girlfriend alone in the half submerged Ford to help a couple of guys get unstuck is a swampy area just past the log bridge. That was the whole reason he was up there, was to get them out and he ends up getting stuck in 6x6. :
A quick phone call got him running back. Pulled him out and tried to get his truck to start - too wet.
I left him there to check on the other guys in a stock S-10. They werent stuck by much, but they dug deep enough to make things a bit worse. used the come-along and a tug in reverse and they were free. They followed me back to the guy in the Ford who did manage to get started and running a bit.
So we just shot the s*** for a bit. It turns out that the guys in the S-10 were stuck since yesterday.
They were pretty grateful I had shown up. On the way back out I see this guy covered in mud walking down a trail. I offered a ride. I drove him down to the parking area to get his dad's dually chevy. They had gotten a Rhino "stuck deep" and he was getting the truck.... I wished him luck with that.
So, pretty eventful for just going out to dub around. Now I have a couple extractions under my belt!
