Taking the wife on a surprise overnight to Boston tomorrow for our anniversary. We're staying at the The Westin Copley Place,, and having dinner at "Great Bay" in the Hotel Commonwealth.

Anyone every been to Great Bay? It had good reviews online.

i am sure it will be great Dave... if you need suggestions on places for drinks pre or post or something let me know...

Ahhhhh, romance is not dead!
Have a great time!

Eastern Standard which is the other restaurant in the Hotel Commonwealth is one of the hottest places in town now Definitely grab a drink there before going to dinner at Great Bay. Ed Costa is the general manager at Great Bay and is a good friend of mine. Also, there is an excellent sushi place in the Westin that gets great reviews

I've been working in the wine business in Boston for 8 years so call me if you pass a place and want a biased review or if you need directions. 617-480-6693 cell

are you still around? up the street there is a bar called the audobon. i am sure i spelled it wrong but its a great place to go for a beer. they have sierra on tap. my fav local beer is harpoon IPA.

on newbury street... towards the mass ave end, there is a bar called sonsei... this is a "place to be seen". not really my type of place but if you want to look at pretty people and get a martini, thats a good place.

do NOT go to crossroads. that bar sucks.

JP licks has good ice cream and coffee.

hmmmmmmm... across from the prudential building there is a good place for sandwiches called the parish cafe. they have a patio too.

eastern standard is good, not great, not bad but pretty good.

if you are heading over to the park for any reason, fenway that is, there is a good mexican place on landsdown street called la verdade.

i have tons of suggestions. if you are like me you brought your laptop to the hotel.

hey guys, she was completely surprised and we had a great night. Dinner at Great Bay was fantastic and not as pricy as I was expecting (though certainly not cheap).

The Westin at Copley was very nice. Great room on the 32nd floor with a killer view.

We didn't hit any other bars as we had a late dinner then it was back to the hotel (tmi). We did walk Newburry street this morning, had a mediocre breakfast at Cronos, and headed home to pick up the boy.

Picked up a few more items I need to finish up the truck on the way home, I'm hoping to have my first appointment at the VT inspection station right after Labor Day.

Got to meet 'Spud" Saturday morning and check out his rig. Alway since to meet members in person, especially ones who are so close by.

I have my big Fantasy Football draft tonight... it's been an exciting weekend. :) :) :)

JP Licks does have pretty good coffee.

The Pour House over on Boylston isn't bad and it's somewhat cheap. I don't have much in the way of money, so it works.
