I have a chance to pick up an '01 Honda 450 Foreman quad. Don't have many details yet, only some pics. Was told it has a broken rear driveshaft. Most body panels appear to be there, although the 2 photos I have are of the left side only. Has a winch. Front rack and grille are not on in pics but seller said he has them.

This will mostly be used on my SC property as a utility vehicle. I haven't seen it in person yet. Looks like it may have been ridden hard and put up wet. Is $500 to much to offer?

Anything to look out for when I inspect it?

Can anyone confirm the year as a 2001?

Thanks.

PS: It has new mud tires on it.

Since the shaft is broken, you can't ride it. No way of knowing if anything else is wrong. How did they break the shaft?

Found out this morning the shaft is OK, the rear U-joint is damaged. It does run in front wheel drive only.

that's not an easy break, he must have been hammering something, besides why not fix it and sell the bike for $1800?

Jim, my son is selling his 2004 honda recon 250, 2 wheel drive for $950 and it runs good.

I'd go more in the $1000-$2500 range and get one that is a little older but runs great and everything works. I think I gave $2400 last year for my 97 suzuki king quad 300 with 1400 miles on it. It has been perfect.
