I have an extra Camry ac compressor taking up space in the garage and was wondering if I could use it for OBA. After looking at the pulleys on the AC pump and the Smog pump they look pretty close to the same size. I know the compressor needs oil but there has to be away to get around that right?

As of right now I have a 12v compressor wired in with a tank under the rear where the spare was, but it is slow and seems to be on its last leg anyways.

Thoughts?

I know with the York compressors (90% certain at least) they have an oil supply inboard to the compressor, and you have to run an oil separator inline after the compressor before your outlet or tank.

I think with modern A/C compressors the lubricant is actually in the pressure lines with the coolant though. Not sure what that'll do to your options.

I've got a york on the shelf that I pulled from a Volvo at the pull-a-part a few years ago that I have been meaning to install, the smog pump spot on the 3fe looks like the perfect place. Keith is right on the oil - I'm not sure what you would do about that.

I have found a couple of threads on YOTATECH about using the stock 3.4 AC compressor. They used the same mini oiler that Matt suggested and then had an oil separator after. I am going to remove the smog pump temporarily and try a test fit when I get some decent weather. So it may be this summer before I get to take a look at it. LOL

I would love to do the York 210 but I already have the camry compressor sitting in the garage and it has the same style serpentine adapter, where the York uses a v belt. Are there any adapters made that mount onto the top of another pulley on the cruiser to drive the v belt? Just thinking out loud on that one, I havent even tried looking it up yet.

I took some time after work tonight to look at the 2 pulleys and the 80 has the v belt pulley and the Camry compressor had a flat belt. So next junk yard run I'll be looking for a York or another Toyota AC compressor with a V belt.

What model did the York come on? All I know is 80s models Combos and some fords

OK picked up a 210 this weekend from an old ford. Does anyone have a pattern for the bracket to the 3fe? I still need to de-smog so I have room to mount it.
