sounds like a lifter, although it could be a exaust leak, once it warms up it goes away though?

yes, once it is warm it goes away.

I have yet to have it happen in the last two day, but once it does I will look at the oil pressure to see if that will give me a hint as to what it may be.

Toad - Just fyi, that isn't what mine sounded like on startup. Yours sounds much more intermittent than mine did. I had more of a rumble/vibration at startup.

Good luck.

As promised here's the carnage...

Haven't had any luck linking the pics to Picasa, so here's a link to my web album
nilpoc

Be sure to zoom in for extra grizzliness.

I bought my 60 with a bad motor so I immediately had to swap it out. I got a good deal on a used short block from cruiserparts.net, I think it was $600 with a limited warranty and you can get the warranty extended for a price. You might want to check them out.

Thanks guys. Not sure where I stand yet... haven't heard back from my mechanic to see if the block was affected or not. Then I'll have to decide which path to take.

Haven't even had her a year yet. I'm pretty good about maintenance, and don't really understand how this happened.
