I recently completed and OME lift installation. Upon inspecting some of the other pictures of the front struts I was wondering if my lower spring seat orientation is correct.

The spring seat is like a little saucer - is the proper orientation on install have the saucer edges curving up or curving down? I had mine assembled at the Pep Boys and the edges point down. The assured me that this was the correct orientation but looking at some of the other pictures it seems like the saucer had the edges pointing up. Optical illusion?

I think so.

Mine are cupping the spring

It was by looking at the picture of your springs that made me ask this question. I had my suspicions when I got the assembled strut from the pep boys but even the supervisor thought that the orientation was correct. Being a beginner mechanic I was cowed.

But yours have that weird curvy thing going on...:)

dood, the bucket is upside down. must be disassembled and the 'spring seat' flipped over.

your red line is pointing directly where the coil end should be resting inside the bucket

Grr... I hereby retract the nice things I said about the pep boys!

The damn thing isn't going to fly apart on me now, is it? How safe is it to drive the vehicle about a mile or two to my Automotive Repair Class?

I have no idea. No guarantees as it's on upsidedown...

Just got off ARB tech support. They told me that the two symptoms of an inverted seat are:

1) Car will dive
2) Strut will lightly contact front sway bar.

I am having both these issues so clearly I need to address this problem. They also told me that the assembly should not fly apart and that the above two are the only issues with this creative spring seat usage.
