I'm getting a rather healthy tax return back thanks in large part to spending 4 months in Azzcrackistan last year. The responsible thing is to spend it on my tuition, but I've decided to go ahead and lift my 60 right the first time.

No sooner had I decided on an OME medium-heavy setup with MAF U-bolt flip kit and shackle reversal than it dawned on me: I can't install it in my garage because my baby wouldn't be able to roll out afterwards  Obviously that presents somewhat of a problem. Anyone willing to donate a garage space to the cause and/or a helping hand in the process? If not I'll drive on down to my closest AFB and rent a stall for the weekend if you're just interested in wrenching.

I haven't ordered the parts yet (don't have the money yet) but spring break out this way is 18 - 26 March and I was going to use that timeframe for some project time and general maintenance. I'm flexible on the dates, but I'd obviously prefer to run her up at the Badlands in April.

Cheers,
Travis

Could you get it out by lowering the air pressure in the tires?

That was my next thought too. Problem is I've already got the anti-inversion shackles on her, so I can't tell exactly how much lift I'm going to gain. The real trouble is the garage door itself slopes down so far at the end, if I could somehow pull it back on its tracks another 6 inches, I'd be fine.

The wratchet strap idea sounds more promising. From everything I've heard it's physically exhausting enough doing the install without asking people to lift a garage door at the end of the day too!

I don't mind helping but I have a standerd high door you might not get of it.I have to finnish my bumpers befor april so I hope it gets worm soon.

I might be able to help, I just have a 7 ft door but it opens up all the way and we can let the pressure down to about 5 pounds to get it out if we have to. You probably wouldn't have to bring any tools if you want to do it here.

By the way a friend of mine has a 3/4 ton 4x4 disel dodge with 2 inches of lift and 33's, it fits with a little room to spare.

Thanks guys. When I get a chance today I'll try and pull the door back further and see if my own garage is suitable. I ordered the parts and am looking at a build day of 18 Mar. I actually want to head back to my folks place in Cincinnati that weekend too, to pick up my motorcycle. If that date works for you Chad, I just may take you up on the offer.

Friday the 17th I'll be up all night because I go on nights the 18th. then I'm off the 21, 22 , and 23.

If you want to do the job QUICKLY then make sure you order new frame pins, shackles and u-bolts too. That way the old stuff can get cut off and tossed aside. It's MUCH faster that way. Still a LOT of work to do in a day IMHO if you're crawling around on a garage floor with hand tools. BTDT...

Thanks guys. I'm leaning more towards just doing it myself in my garage for the sheer knowledge and experience of doing it myself. Some combination of tire deflation/pulling the door back further/possibly mounting my buddy's 31s will get me out of there and I'd really rather not be rushing when I do this job. I'm looking forward to checking out the new articulation up at the Badlands!

If you want to bring it to Elkhart, I imagine it'll fit into the 14' overhead door to the shop. And maybe Jimmy can bring the girl from his avatar. :) Luke

If you want- I can probably get permission from a buddy to use his 2 post vehicle lift and his shop for a weekend. he owns a tire and auto shop.

I appreciate the offer, but it seems a little far to travel for a job that doesn't require a lot of special tools. But it'd definitely be worth the trip if Larry brings that girl :bounce:
