by chance does anyone know what this seat adjuster lever looks like for the early early models? mine is a 65 fj45. thinking i might have to make one or adapt newer style to the old seats?

dom. is this specific to just the fj45 or does fj40 have as well?

I think they are the same but I can't say for sure. I posted up like you did and got a full seat bottom from a local SoCal MUD member. I pulled off the bracket and added it to my original seat and then bolted on the handle.
