What is the easiest way to remove old vinyl (?) pin striping? On an '89 FJ62. Not planning on painting in near term but wanted to start to clean it up. Interesting seeing these roll on and rattle can paint jobs (one now going on in 60 series tech forum). Fits my budget. Thank you.

1. Rubbing alcohol and a rag-Test a small area for any reactions
2. pinstripe removal tool-never used one, some rave about them
3. heat gun-works pretty well.

use an eraser wheel

If you have a napa or any type of autobody supply store sells them. It is a big eraser wheel you put into a drill and it will strip a pin stripe off in no time without damaging paint. pretty cool. I think the one I used was from 3m and cost $7.

+1 on the eraser wheel. also works good on glue left over from tape or old stickers. may take a whild depending on how much you have but sure beats the heat and peel method

I've used mineral spirits after the eraser wheel to clean up the residue.
