I have a Husky 26 gal upright that has recently been overheating and shutting down the internal breaker. It resets itself after about 20 mins. Is this the beginning of the end for this compressor?

Question 2: Would it matter if a larger 2-stage compressor was inside or outside from a condensation aspect? I'm thinking to reduce noise inside the shop, I would put it in its own small lean-to and on a concrete pad out back and plumb fittings into the shop. Any input on this idea?

is it taking considerably longer to fill the tank?

outside is not big deal, it is ambient moisture that builds up inside of the tank. Unless your garage has some sort of air drier, you are not gonna change much.

Make sure your electrical supply is correct. If the motor is trying to pull to many amps throught the wire it could overheat and the thermal shut down kicks in. Use an amp meter to see what amps you are pulling and then see if it is in specs for the motor.

Sure seems like it's taking longer to fill, but I haven't been timing it.

Thanks, that's good info.

Currently I'm running it off a 3000W 25 Amp portable generator. I have power to the main in the shop, but I still have to run the wires and outlets. I'll check that out. Thanks, Dan.
