I'm moving out of my shop and I have a few (bunch) of oil stains on the floor . I got one thats nasty Someone (brother) tried to put 35 gal of used oil in a 30gal can . well its left a ugly mess from the oil dry and oil mix thats now like a tar .
Im just trying to get it a better than it is now. that way I did my best and still not get my deposit back
Thanks

we use engine degreaser on the bay floors here at the fire dept. One station was built in 1988, had leaky firetrucks in it ever since, and we can still get the floors clean enough to do stop drop & roll w/the daycare next door....

Tried caustic soda?

For general whitening of concrete on driveways or slabs use a 50/50 solution of liquid chlorine and water, apply with a plastic garden watering can. Comes up like new.

Speedy dry or cat litter.

Grind it in with your feet. Our plumber showed me that trick when he replaced our oil burner. If there is a buildup of goo, scrape it off and grind the cat litter in.

The powder stuff works great. Wet the area and add some power and gind it in. Let it sit overnight if you can. Wash it off.

Laundry detergent, like Tide, etc, works well.

Liquid DAWN works great for me. Put it on, lightly scrub run it in, let it sit and wash it off before it dries.

Wet the area and add some power and gind it in.

I tried ginding it and it didn't work...

Thanks everyone for the ideas .
I used some of each and all worked well . there was still some stains but I couldn't tell how bad as my last walk through with the landlord the floor was still damp since 95% humidly outside makes for a poor drying environment .
I powerwashed everything too (walls, floors, bathroom, hot water heater:eek: )

He said he couldn't ask for anything more so he better send me my deposit back since he didn't bring a checkbook with him.

I will never rent again since this dick had no problems taking my cash but never fixing a damn thing so when I left most of the lights didn't work, both heaters had problems , hot water heater stopped working a year ago (why i didn't feel too bad about washing it with the pressure washer) roof leaked in spots floor had sunk almost 2 inches in one corner (he wouldn't clean the gutters out since the ones on his place next door rotted and didn't need cleaning) washing the dirt out from under it and the trees pushing up the other end with the roots ,tree rats in the attic . The only thing he ever did was have the trees cut down next to the place since the township told him to clean the mess up.

Thanks again all for the tips

paint thinner....open your doors and poor a little thinner on it , let set for several hours, do nothing.....I have used this a hundred times....thinner evaporates and the stain (oil) is gone...some times called mineral spirits....if it is very old and very set, repeat process...pour on thinner, let stand, do nothing.....

THIS WORKS................
