Oil Pressure gauge not working . I located what I think is the switch . It is bell shaped Towards the front by oil filter it looks rusted out. I picked up a gauge at princess auto . Now how do I remove this switch and what will I have to deal with when I do ? Any suggestions or picture would be great
Thanks

Just unscrew it. There are flats for a wrench between the bell and the block, or you can just grab the bell and turn.

You can get an after-market oil pressure gauge and tap into plug just rear of the factory oil switch at the oil filter housing. I got a 24volt one from Auberins.com.

new here and coming in late but here goes...I was just working on that an hour ago......On my '87 JDM BJ74 w/13B-T the pressure sender is shaped and sized like a marshmellow and has two wires on it.....On mine the ground (appeared to be the ground anyway...) rusted out and actually broke off of the marshmallow leaving a small hole in it I put a sheet metal screw into the hole with a ring connector so I could fashion a new ground wire.....Pressure gauge still reads low but I had a shop remove the sender and put a pressure gauge on the mote....Good pressure at idle and at 3000RPM.....I'm fixing to instal a mechanical pressure gauge as I don't like/trust the stock gauge....

Thanks for the reply
I still haven't fix this . I have some concerns about matching the thread correctly . If you find a switch that works could you send me the info on it . I bought a switch at princess auto and was ready to try and put it on when I was told the treads would not match . So I don't want to take off the old rusted one until I have something that I know will work .

Thanks
Ken

They dont actually need the ground to work properly. Toyota put them on early model landcruisers but later stopped using them, but the sender still came with the ground connector.

There are ways of retaining the stock gauge and having a mechanical gauge by getting some kind of adapter that will take 2 senders.

Many Toyota cars of the same era use the same sender, there is no difference between diesel, petrol, cars or trucks.
Ive been using a Camry sender for 4 years.

Here is a Sankei (japanese brand) one in the US that suits Hilux and Corrola .
These may even be the OEM brand that Toyota uses.

Im not sure if 12v and 24v are the same.
