Offroading Locations near Richmond, VA

I'm a new FJ owner and want to stretch my offroad legs. No experience so I want to start on something novice. Can anyone help me with a location?

Outside of Charlottesville, there is "Shoe Creek" Really mild stuff, mostly just a dirt road through a national forrest. It's very stocker friendly. I couldn't tell you how to get there though. I am sure there are a few other places, too. The Capitol City or Bay To Blue Ridge guys should know.

It's south of C'ville about 15 miles, west off of 29. Find Crabtree Falls and you're there.
