I have a gx and i like it but dave is right about interior space, rear door, cargo space. The running boards sit low to the ground, so there will be some damage if any off road is done. It suppose to go up by itself on the back about two inches when offroad but the boss doesnt allow me to do so to try it. Over all a good truck. I have never get more than 16 mpg may need a tune up. Mine is 07 with 80k miles

@stevezero The only real reason we didn't buy the GX we were looking at at the time was price. It was newer with low miles and we just couldn't swing it so we held out and ultimately found the older LX. No shame in driving a tailgateless cruiser...my 40 doesn't have one either!

Agreed. the Yukon has been great but we're ready for something else and the Hundy is at the top of the list. Eric and Dave have agreed to try and look at it and I'll go down Saturday if needed.

You need a white 80 to match the 100.

Sorry but The 100 fits us better then an 80. The only other cruiser I am considering is very unique.
Mary and I love our 7.3 F350 and saw a bunch of well kept 7.3 excursions while in Ohio.

Can't blame you with the 7.3L Ford... Our 2001 F-350 Crew was the best truck I think I'll ever own. I sold it when we bought our 100 Series and I really miss that truck! We drove the 100 to Vegas and back last week, so I have basically gone cross country in both trucks (and the 80 Series, for that matter). The Ford was comfortable, reliable, and spacious. Diesel was very expensive when we made the trek in 2010, but we could go 500 miles on a single tank - which was key for that trip because we wanted to get to South Carolina as quickly as we could (Los Angeles to Charleston in 3 days). Both trucks were comfortable, for sure, but if you're going on long trips with the family, I'd lean towards the Ford because of the extra space. Still love the LC100.

Thats the only ford I'd own. They are in different leagues spce and power wise.

The 100 got the 5spd a750 too but not till 2004 i believe. Like Steve said it would be worth it to get a later model if you end up in one. Read up on the nav and other issues and slees guide as well.

In hp. 2006 i think. Waiting for details. Somewhere around $12,500. Well maintianed with new ko2's and clean but unsure of miles. Let me know if your interested.

Uzj100 has had both the 100 (older) and the 120/gx. Might be able to give you some pointers

I have some rear coil springs for sale. I had them custom made for my GX470, I believe they may have been the first custom GX coils in the US, but anyway....

Coil Spring Specialties in KS made them. We based them off a 2007 4Runner, V8, 4WD; then added 15% higher spring rate, 200 lbs additional load capacity, and 1.5" height. Net is, on a GX they ride quite nice and are a great way to dispose of the airbags, and provide 1" lift over the airbags at Normal ride height. I suppose on a 03-09 4R, you may get a bit closer to 1.5" lift. I ran them for about 9 mos on my GX.

I was just givin ya a hard time. I seriously searched for 6 months, and I was torn on the lx vs gx. I almost bout a sweet 07 lx with 87k miles, full service records, full maint, and nary a door ding. It was black, and they wanted more than i was willing to pay for it. If it would have been white, I probably woulda done it. I just couldnt bring myself to own another black truck.

On my gx, I kinda like the fact that the running boards hang a bit low, and the bumpers are plastic, and its got the funky adjustable suspension. It will force me to keep it stock for a while. (that was before I saw little joe's rear coil add three posts above. LOLOL)

If the ADD is meant toward me, then I deserve it, but I have been this way for the last ~7 years and to far gone to help

On the 200 vs the LX - i can't afford either - was just pointing it out for all the people looking I gotta work on the wife to ditch the Highlander before I can reconsider another "family car." I lost the battle on the 100/80 for a family car when I bought that damn Highlander!

I do like the 1st Gen Tacoma body style, but just like the 3rd Gen 4Runner, I would also like a little more room . . . and cruise and a locker for possible trips in it in the hills. We will see - Doubt I will trade - would possibly gift/sell the '04 to my Son, but then I am back to ditching the Highlander if I want to get into an 80. I basically control 2 of 3 cars and I have limited control of the third . . .

All of the above leads us back to the core issue of vehicle ADD . . .

As someone who stretches well over the 72" mark, and hence can rarely sleep in the back of a vehicle, I've considered the diesel excursions as well. Those damn things are big enough you, Stacy, the kids, AND Hundy could sleep back there.

Emailed him yesterday and he said someone is supposed to pick them up this morning. I told him that I was putting them on an LC and he said he just sold a blue 1987 LC 2 days ago.
