RENO, NV** OCTOBER 22, 2010 – The Silent Auction benefitting the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) at the 2010 Off-Road Expo was a success. “It was a three way win,” said Bob Bower, Executive Director of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.* “The people who donated did so out of the goodness of their hearts and really felt good about doing it.* Secondly, we had some rare or one of a kind items that increased competition among bidders which helped to increase the bidding activity benefitting the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, and lastly, the winning bidders got to go home with a part of Motosports History at some astounding bargain prices.”
There were some amazing items up for bid including a complete set of Ford Rough Rider posters from the early 90′s that were nicely framed and auctioned off as a single bid item.* One of the hottest bid items was a full set of Mint 400 Jim Beam Decanters.* Mike Doherty, Class 8 Privateer off road racer, drove all the way from Tucson to bring them to the auction wrapped in towels and stowed in a cardboard box.* Special thanks goes to Richard Winchester of BFGoodrich and Jack Cummings from Goodyear who each donated a set of tires that generated high bids.
The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame is a 501(C) 3 non-profit organization that is proud to be debt free. *With an extremely low overhead and a volunteer staff, 98% of every dollar received goes directly to work to keep operations moving forward. The goal for the organization is to be self-sustaining and to continue the preservation of the heritage of our sport.
