Just bought a new FJC and it has no running boards or sliders on it. I'm sure wifey is going to want something to step on as she had them on her Suburban.
My dealer gives me a nice discount on Toyota stuff and I thought about just buying the factory sliders, but thought I'd ask about good aftermarket experiences. I don't want any nerf bar crap. If I'm going to bolt something there, it ought to actually be something more than a step.
Who's got what?

OEM sucks for sliders and the steps are flimsy and easily destroyed of you take it off-road. Do you want a step or sliders? Steps, I have no direct experience, sorry. For sliders, I highy recommend Demello. They have some unique qualities, are well made and very stout. They can be used as a step since they stick out a few inches but are not low enough to be used for a spouse sliding into the FJC in a skirt and heels (as my wife will attest).

Here are a link to the Demello sliders page.

OEM sliders are actually pretty stout (experience speaking), they just sit almost flush to the body line offering no side protection or hi-lift jacking point. Since the do sit close to the body line, they will not serve as a step at all.

if you plan to use the sliders at all you will not want the Toyota ones. As mentioned, they do nto stick out past the rig. They are stour but if you are gonna do sliders, make them stick out past the body...

x2 for the Demello Offroad sliders. I had the Toyota rock rails and they are flimsy at best and do not stick out far enough to protect the door. I have come down hard on the DO sliders and had no issues. They make a nice step for the wife and kids as well.

All good info. Exactly what I was looking for. Trying to serve up something to the wife that is actually a slider, but you can step on it, too. Her days of heels and seamed stockings.................were great.;)
