Progress has been slow with summer here, but I was able to finally finish the frame on the FJ. It turned out really good. Starting in on the motor tonight.

Slow going but I'm still working a few days a week on her. Cleaned up the transmission last night and will paint. I was able to repair a oil leak on it as well. Got all the shocks ordered and will be working on the engine more this weekend. I've got the flywheel in being turned and a new ring gear being install. She will also get a new clutch disc and throw out bearing.

I got a lot of work done over the weekend. I now have Transmission, Engine, Motor mounts, Water pump, bell housing and all associated components ready to put back in. I've also purchased a new clutch disc, I have had the flywheel turned (and a new ring gear installed), and throw out bearing. I still need to purchase a new starter, alternator, distributor, valve covers and air cleaner to finish off the engine. It's looking really good!

I would only use a grease-based rustproofing material - not a hard coating. When I was a kid in Michigan, the only parts of our cars not rusting through or snapping in half, were those covered in a layer of grease, inside and out.
Daubert/Cromwell makes a product called Nox-Rust-you can get it in small aerosal cans and I think in larger gallons to spray w/a wand. We used this stuff to preserve large turbine parts during overhauls-it worked great! Mineral Spirits will dissolve it. It pretty much never completely dries out, stays a waxy coating for at least 5 yrs out in the weather(prob much longer if it's protected a little(like inside a frame)

Its been awhile since I've given an update. I was able to get the engine back in the frame. Since then have been working here and there on finishing off stripping down all the parts off the metal. We started the body work and were able to get the rear tub separated. It going to take alot of metal work to get this looking good again.

Also found a good deal on some new seats. I was able to the drivers and passengers seat out of a 2015 Patriot. The seats I have were infested with mice and smell awful. They would need a total rebuild where as I got both of these seats for $100.00! It will take a little modification to make them fit, but shouldn't be an issue.

Was able to get a small amount of work done last night. The glove box was home to a huge mouse nest for many years. The urine caused the bottom of the glove box to rust out. It also caused some damage to the dash under the lower pad. All will be cut out and replaced.

Been doing a lot of work to the body over the last month. Trying to get every rust spot cut out and repaired with new metal. We were finally able to bring in the rear tub from LC Heaven to mock everything up. The rear tub did require a few modifications, but it is going to work. Hopefully over the next month I can finish up on this portion of the job.
