Im interested in your rear bench install. What seat are you going with? I want one but also want to have 3 point belts on them for when my girls are bigger.

I bought the Bestop trailmax 2 seat. I ended up buying it right through Amazon. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001898TT6/?tag=ihco-20). I have done a test fit on it and it fits perfect between the wheel wells. I too have small kids and would like to figure out something with the 3 point seat belts, but have not got to that point yet.

I paid someone to weld in some door bottom patch panels for me. He lapped welded the damn things.:bang: Now i need to start over.........with someone else that can actually do it correctly.

I bought all my patch panels from Real Steel. They are located here in Northern Illinois so I just called him and told him what I wanted, then stopped in and picked them up. I bought patch panels for the two front doors, the two back doors, and the front bib. I think I have about $700 in patches, but they are working out pretty well. The second door only took about 2 hours to cut out and prep for welding. Should be able to finish up that door this weekend. I'm not sure what level of skill you have, but its not too bad to do. I have been using one of those flap wheels on the grinder wheel to take off small amounts of metal until it fits perfect. The welder I use has the adapter to use either 120v or 220v. I found that the 120v actually works better for this work as it doesn't tend to burn through the metal as easily.

Is there a seat bracket that cmes with that fold and tumble?

Ive searched for days trying to find a rear seat with built in 3 point belts and nothing.

There are only brackets that come with the seat for install, nothing for the seatbelts. I'm sure there is a way to make a bracket and weld it to the roll cage.

its that fact that he lapped the patch instead of butt welding them that ticks me off. I don't want plastic filler wadded up all over the body

I paid in advance and he said I didn't tell him not to lap weld them. My screw up. Some things just seem obvious to me.

Started work on the ambulance doors this weekend. The passenger side door with the handle had a hole and tons of rust around the handle. Turns out they put a backer plate behind the handle for extra support which caused the rust. Ended up cutting all the bad areas out and welded in a new piece. Only need to get the holes drilled to reinstall the handle. Also started on the bottom of the door as well. Should be able to finish that door later week.

Finally finished the drivers side ambulance door. This door is by far the most challenging to replace the bottom on. There are lots of bends and turns that need to be lined up. Also the bottom latch was totally seized up. After sandblasting the crap out of it I was finally able to get to free up. Next step will be to strip all the doors down for sandblasting, then paint.

Great work on the 40.
thanks for the motivation, maybe I can start getting serious about mine. Found my 40 abandoned in the forest in northern BC, had been left there 17yrs ago. Three weeks to track down the PO 400 miles away and for a case of Bud the registration was mine. I have a low mileage 70 with a 3B and 5 speed that I am thinking will be sacrificed for the drive train swap. I Enjoyed your build very much, lots of great info and tips.
Thanks again
