Maggiolina of Italy invented the folding rooftop tent in the 1950s and this is a rigid Fiberglas model called the Grand Tour. This is the MEDIUM size and MEDIUM width. It is fully lined to control condensation and includes a foam mattress, matching pillows and an LED reading light. It cranks up 40" higher than when lowered and has 360 degrees of heavy black bug screens and zip-up doors on each side.
Even when all windows are open you are still fully bug-screened in. It takes a standard FULL size mattress, so you can add a second one if desired. The mattress is in a heavy fabric with a zipper so you can wash it. I
t also includes a really well-made (everything is Made in Italy) telescoping aluminum ladder. I only used it for one night. It fits pretty much any car or truck and I will help you load it. Many of the lesser expensive ones are plastic and have issues with condensation - the full fabric lining over special foam minimizes that, and rain and other noises are damped out.
The hardware is all stainless steel and aluminum and very high quality. Depending on distance I can meet you at a campground or coffee shop close to you and give you a full tutorial. Please allow me to explain in person or over the telephone why I am selling it so soon. Thanks! PS: I paid $3700 retail for this and it is like new. I am sure there are several nice things about this (and about how neat it is to use) that I am forgetting.
