What's the normal operating range for the oil pressure gauge? I'm in the process of buying one and it seems to read between 1/4 and maxes at 1/2 during heavy acceleration. Is that normal range or should I be hassling the dealer?

That sounds normal to me. This is how both my 100 and 200 seem to operate.

This question comes up a lot with the 200. It's normal. Even after an oil change...that's what it tends to read.

Ok thanks guys!

My wife even noticed how limp the oil gauge is. I'd still like it to be more accurate (short of installing a ScanGauge or the like). I'm planning to at least bring it up as a concern at the next service so it's on record.

That's what I see on my 2013.

It is not an accuracy issue but conditioned expectation. Too much pressure and more volume will lead to issues and failures. A gauge that read out actual pressure values would be welcome as opposed to the gauge they use however. Toyota engineering is really rather exemplary.

I have noticed the same on my 16LC and wanted to ask my know nothing dealer. Glad to hear it is normal. It scared me when towing the boat when it dropped 1/4

Same with mine. Reminds me of my Dad's air/oil cooled 911.

I've had 100 and 200 and it's the same for both, usually 1/4, 1/2 under heavy acceleration.

Thanks. Guess I was being paranoid.

Personally i think It's pretty cool your wife actually lookes at the gauges!

I have a WiFi OBD-II dongle and an iPhone app which I was using to read transmission temp and a few other gauges on my Acura. I haven't tried it on my new LC yet but it should work even better (since Honda hides the codes). I prefer it over the look of the scan gauge because I have far more control over the dashboard. Plus the dongle and app were like $20-25 combined.

Same here.

it is disconcerting to seethe oil pressure at 1/4 as my gauge reads, but if that is normal, then so be it. Seems like Toyota would calibrate the oil like the water to show normal at half/middle position so that a quick glance shows center alignment if normal....
