I've noticed that we still haven't heard the story that led to this outcome, so it is up to us to each draw our own conclutions as to what caused this predicament.
I chose to use my own similar outcomes in my past to conclude that she was either very very cute, or you were very very hung over the day after this. Trust me the most expensive words I have ever heard in my life were "I've never been mudden before". Then she catches a ride home with a friend as I try to try to figure out how to get what is left of my truck back home.
good luck

Progress is being made.

After I got all the parts back from the machine shop I started the assembly process. I got the crank set and torqued. It spun very nicely. Then I went to torqued down the pistons to the crank and then it happened, the first problem. The clearance between the crank journal and the conrod was too small. So back to the shop for some more machining.

As it stands right now the crank, pistons are in and Im working on the cam and timing gear. I'm reusing the cam as the tolerance's for intake and exhaust were in original spec. Lucky me.

Here's a pic.

Dem well pumps shore is gettin' complicated!!!!:flipoff2:

WOW you weren't kiddin!! Dam cold water..Get the crank and rod problem fixed yet?? Need any help call me... OH by the way this is Andy

Yeah, the shop took a little more off the crank in order for the pistons to move. I'm in good sharp now.

I have the intake and exhaust manifold on and other peripherals. It's moving right along.

Got the engine in the truck last night at about 10:30pm.

Priming the oil pump was pretty easy. Just like a V8, stick an ele. drill with a rod at the end down into the pump and start turning. An 1200 rpm drill can't create enough preasure to get the oil to the top of the engine,(head's rocker tub). But I did verify that the pump is primed by taking the harmonic damper off the front and watching the oil flow down the crank gear. Once the engine is running and rev's up will the oil get to the top.

I plan on working on buttoning up the rightside today and the left tomorrow.

I'm going to limp it over to the shop so that I can fab up the OBA bracket on Sat.

Got the passenger side buttoned up last night and some front brackets. Got the tranny attached to the eng. and exhaust hooked too.

finally got it started. Started with no problem. However, I can't seem to notice if there is any oil getting to the top side of the engine. Will work on it tomorrow before the tech meeting.

New Guy.

I tried to make it to the tech meeting today, to introduce myself. Alas, I couldn't get the engine I just built and put into the truck dialed in  . It's gettin better, but still needs some more fine tuning. Thats what happens when I make my own speed parts. Did get both knuckles completely rebuilt though. Hope to meet you all soon. Later, Tony. Tony,
We voted ya in yesterday, your in!!

Good to hear about the knuckles getting done.

BTW, we will be posting up this years events very shortly for all to see.

See ya soon.

Jimmy was so depressed because he bent a connecting rod. He thought it would be better to finsh putting the motor in the 80 with a bottle of wine. He drank the hole thing! I sure hope the engine doesn't fall out.
That was only one occastion where I witnessed Jimmy's frustration drinking. Who knows how many times he's increased his awarness by drinking a bottle of wine.

Update

Well, I've got 500 miles on the new engine with no major problems. Just one minor problem to speak of is the heater hoses. In the first picture of the post you can see the heater hoses running down the side of the block. The rubber ends are bad and will need to be replaced and I can smell coolant from time to time. Retail is $204 for the metal tube/rubber tubes assemblyWOW:eek:. I think it's about time to call Cdan.

I'm going to recheck/adjust the valves tonight. When I took he rocket assy off I did not relash. Also, when I assembled the engine the lash was set with the engine cold and not a hot lash spec.

Next, I'm running alittle rich since the airpump is off the engine, York in it's place. I need to go into the MAF sensor and make an adjustment to lean out the mixture.
