NEW GIRL HERE!

Hey everyone! I am new here and would love some feedback in helping me to find my "perfect" project.

My husband and I moved out here last year from TX. Brandon let me help him restore his '73 Bronco. After helping put on the disc brake conversion I was HOOKED! I helped him with several other projects and spent a weekend on the trails, in the MUD, (mostly water:-) submerging headlights and decided it was my time. .....................

Just looking for some recomendations ............... more along the lines of "what not to do" ............ I need advice from you FJ guys!

I would strongly prefer one with a V8 conversion already. I feel comfortable enough with doing most of the other conversions (disc brakes, pwr steering, etc................) but I am open to recomendations.

Thanks everyone! Look forward to talking with all of you!! ...................
Hopefully about my NEW FJ!!:D

Search around and find out what vehicle tickles your fancy, find the tech areas for that type,

The 40 is the open top style, the 45, 55, 60, 62, 80 and 100 are all wagons, all very good trucks.
I started out with a 70 Bronco and moved on, welcome to Mud.

Well, Im a chick and love beer and LOVE FJs .............. all about BIG TOYS!!! ........... Thanks for the reply!

I like beer too and I am a chickie.

I went with a 60 cause I like the lines. Before the 60 I have had an 83 toyoto pickemup truck, 54 ford customline, 85 jeep cj7 and a 70 bug. I usually go for the overall look of the vehicle. I don't know just like cars/trucks and playing with em. I think I am gonna keep mine relatively stock and maybe get a 55 project or jump back into an early VW. I say go for what you like and make it your own.

I wish this guy :cheers:had a beer in his hand instead of a glass of wine!!!!

I heard the word beer so I showed up in this forum again. :) I am so rarely even on MUD, much less in the Girl's Garage, but my senses heard the word beer & here I am!! :)

I guess you would agree then BEER IS GOOD!!!

Beer seems to go w everything!

Something i have found out along the way that is nothing i think any one wants to get tangled up with is rust! 1981 is the year toyota starting recycling there steel and they were learning, any way '81 toyotas are rusty. My dad has two 81 pickups and, rusted- bad! A old wheelin friend had an 81 fj-40 and never could get it to stop rusting. It may be an urban legend but, my dad knows body work and even he is getting tired of it never ending.
Just my 2 cents ;)

Totally agree my 83 toyo pick me up had some serious bed rust issues. Sold it for 500 bucks and used the money to get cross country. I didn't even bother trying to fix it just let it move on to some other owner. Now probably would have kept it just taken off the bed. But that is now and that was then Agh well. Got me a 60 now so all is right in the universe

Sorry to hear about ur pick-up, but congrats on the upgrade :)

Did I hear the word Beer?

I likes the beer too....

Bears, not so much, ursine or humanoid. :meh:

err, do we need tech here?

if so, scenario: 2' of snow, 50' downhill driveway. Road was plowed, and I'd locked my hubs before rolling, so all good. Problem was, hubs were unlocked when I came home several hours after.

Many many back n forths later, cruiser is berthed. How the hell does one know when it's time to lock the hubs??? For a 50' 15*grade, is it worth it?

no j##ps

Texasgirl, did you end up picking up a rig? if you haven't yet, I'd say go for a 60!
