New to the forum and have some questions about the electrical for Series 100 Land Cruiser I-6 Diesel....

What is the amperage consumed by the vehicle at idle?
How will I know if I have exceeded the maximum amperage provided by the alternator?
Have anyone done any dual battery/dual alternator setup, each alternator support one battery?
What is the output amperage of a stock alternator?

I am planning on installing about 70Amps of DC equipment (Radio, LNB/BUC, Camera, Light bar), and 10Amps AC equipment (Router, Switch, Modem). Any help or feedback about the electrical setup would be great. :)

I believe they had either 80 or 100 amp alternators available. You could go dual batteries and isolate them. This way one runs the accessories added and the other runs the truck. It would help the system keep up with the load you're drawing. Also, you could try to find a high output alternator or a local alternator shop to rebuild your factory one. I used to use MG Auto Electric in Arlington Heights,IL when I owned a couple of car audio/alarm shops. We used to juice alot of factory alternators with the sound systems we installed. The guys will rebuild your alternator as a higher output, heavier duty alternator and do it in the factory case. I've asked them, and they will do work from out of state and ship. If you don't have a local shop, they're number is 847-394-1698. Also, you can put a smaller pulley on the alternator so it charges more at idle when your accessories are pulling and dimming the lights.

IIRC the intercooled turbo diesel came out with at least 100amp alt in OZ, maybe 120 amps, I seem to remember 1400watts, so at least 100amps at 14 volts.
I would run a dual battery setup, second battery a large AGM like a GNB Marathon M12V90 or similar (90 A/Hr at 8 hour rate approx 100 A'Hr at 20 hour rate) and insulate it with some good alfoil backed thermal foam. Split the 2 batteries with a Redarc battery isolator solenoid and run all your accessories off the second battery. This is a very easy install if you have the TDI diesel.

With all accessories, including lights, seat heaters, mirror heaters, a/c, interior lights, off-road lights, etc....total amperage draw is about 80 amps ( if memory serves).
