Update.

New rotors are installed, New rubber lines in the front, New hard line on Driver side. Need to replace one more hard line in the passenger front. and bleed them out good.
New Sway bushings and bar installed in front end.
(4) 6x9 speakers and one 12 inch sub woofer installed. 250 watts o power.
Old Kenwood CD player that I had installed, Bummed as it does not play MP3s so no theme from Shaft at this time.
Rear view mirror removed in favor of the original large bus driver full mirror.
Replaced passenger head light, now have low and high beams on both.
Replaced some dash lights.
Removed 50 feet of PO fawked up wiring with the radio install. (PO was an electrician, surprised the bus did not burn up before I got it)
Cleaned and rewired the washer bottle, (PO had the in and out hoses backward) I can squirt my windows now.
New wiper blades.
Fixed the front signals, now have hazzards, Kids exiting bus lights, and proper signals front and rear.
Installed new liscense plate
Installed old OH ZETASIG plate on front
Installed 19 dollar Cherry bomb turbo II muffler, bonus booger welds on the pipes too. Cut away 6 other old muffler clamps.
Spray painted all wheels black. (Nascar style)
Cleaned the interior, one full roll of paper towels, oiled the cables for the heat and defrost so the slide like butta.
Cleaned out a wasps nest in the defrost ducts.
Fixed the horn.
Everything electrical on the inside works as it should, even the door buzzer and seatbelt lights.

Went to the car wash, Left at least a pound of scale from the frame and underside in the stall. Found out both front doors leak a bit. and the windshield too. Need to caulk that up on a nice day.

Still need a paint scheme, Thinking white roof (probably oil based house paint and a roller) and olive brown elsewhere. Love that olive brown color. Hopefully someone makes something close in a spray can.

Weather pending will scrape off the rest of the scale, and undercoat everything.

Pondering the rear full float axle. I would like to inspect the bearings and such, flush and fill the diff. Clean the housing and paint it.
Need to inspect the rear brakes as well.
Need to sleeve the filler neck (PO has a loose piece of conduit in there, at the pump it leaks out about a cup of gas for every gallon....

Still need to get to a junk yard to find the following parts.
Driver door lock and key, I think any old Ford 70-89 would work.
Passenger door inside arm rest trim.
Front grill
Spare rim and tire, dually style 16.5 inch rim.
Hitch.
Some Boss Hogg bull horns for the front.

That is all I have to report.

Warren,

Before you tear into the rear axle make sure you have a set of rear wheel bearing seals on hand. A lot of these axles have the drum pressed onto the hub. You can't pull the drum without pulling the hub off with it. As heavy as those drums are the seals is often trashed as part of the process. Rather you know and plan for this ahead of time vs. having it apart in the driveway waiting on parts.

Sounds like a lot of progress has been made! Loking forward to parking my cube van next to yer short bus at CMCC this year. Hope you (and I) can make it.

Nick

Yeah, I know about the seals, I got a haynes book and it talked about that. Probably get new bearings too and put them in. I dont want to get into this thing more than one time.

Just looked at the calandar, July 12-14 is CMCC. 600 miles away. we have family Vacation starting on the Friday the 13th, 3 hours north of here. Dont know if this is going to happen..............

Dont know if I will ever wheel this thing.

Scored a passenger side arm rest for the front door.

and bonus. as set of door locks with a key that works! 15 bucks at the bone yard.

Found two possible hitch candidates. 35 bucks if I pull

also found an intact grill to replace the damaged one. This thing is going to look nice.

Gotta measure in between the frame rails. and confirm some stuff.

Now thats a plan. I have spray painting skills. and some tape around, even a new can of white spray paint.

I have been like a crack fiend. Went to a different junk yard today.

The Gods must be looking favorably upon me.

Found a 1989 Short bus. Scored some hard to find trim pieces for the inside. more running lights. a spare dually wheel, and an almost new Reese hitch off of a diesel F 250.

At least I know where to find windows if I need them. and other crap. Was too cheap to pay 45 bucks for a new grill.

Ill get some pics up soon.
