Hey Guys -

I searched the forum and couldn't find anything on this, but I recently got new tires and my Tire Pressure Monitoring Light will not go off. It also has "--" for the tire pressure on all 5 tires. Has anyone else run into this or is there a way to reset the system?

I didn't do anything special, i just replaced the worn out tires with the same size.

Thanks for your help!

You may not have done "anything special," but whoever replaced the tires most certainly did. Where did you have it done? Can you visually verify that the TPMS sensors are still installed in all 5 wheels? Let's start there.

You may also try resetting the TPMS as follows:

Stupid question, where would I look for the monitor? The spare is also showing a "--" but it never came off the truck.

Look at the valve stem - it should be light-colored metal, not black rubber, with a nut at the valve stem/wheel interface.

I had it done at discount tire. Stupid question, where would I look for the monitor? The spare is also showing a "--" but it never came off the truck.
From my experience, after changing my 4 wheels that had the TPMS on them with a set that didn't have TPMS on it, the spare even though had TPMS on it will no longer shows its pressure. I guess they do some sort of synchronization.

Thanks @gaijin !! I just went out and looked and they all have the metal and nut. When I drove out of there yesterday I had a pressure reading on 4 of the 5 tires (drivers front was showing "--") so I think the system just needs to be reset? I couldn't get all the way under the console to reset it as someone parked so tight on my car that I could barley open the drivers door and get in (maybe a little e-z deflator will teach them a lesson...)

You can easily reach the reset button while sitting in the driver's seat. Here's where it is:

Samsonite, i was way off! I wasn't even looking there, I thought it was behind that little trap door rectangle and gave up when I couldn't really get in the car door... I will punch it when I leave work tonight. Thanks for the help @gaijin I owe you a beer! Please let me know if there's ever a time to repay that to you!!

Let us know if a reset solves your problem. Make sure to follow the reset procedure carefully.
